How Fruit Party works: clusters, tumbles and stacking multipliers
Fruit Party was one of Pragmatic Play's first serious attempts at cluster pays, released in 2020, and it still holds up because the mechanic is short to explain and hard to misread. The grid is 7 reels by 7 rows, 49 positions in total, and there are no paylines. A win happens when five or more identical symbols touch each other horizontally or vertically. Diagonals do not count. Every winning cluster then disappears and new symbols drop into the gaps — the Tumble feature — so a single paid spin can keep producing clusters until nothing new forms.
The symbol ladder runs, from cheapest to richest, hearts, stars, plums, grapes, apples, oranges and strawberries. Payouts depend on both the symbol and the size of the cluster, and they stretch from a fraction of your stake at the bottom of the table to around 150x for a large strawberry cluster at the top. On their own, those numbers do not get you near the ceiling. The multipliers do.
During a tumble, symbols inside a winning cluster can land carrying a multiplier. In the base game that means a x2; during free spins you also see x4, and they appear far more often. The crucial detail, and the one most write-ups get wrong, is that these multipliers multiply into each other rather than adding up. Two x2 symbols in the same cluster give x4, not x4 added on. Chain enough of them and you reach the game's hard cap of x256 on a single win — which is the only realistic route to the 5,000x maximum payout.
Free spins arrive with three or more golden scatters, and the count scales with the trigger: 3 scatters give 10 spins, 4 give 11, 5 give 12, 6 give 13 and 7 give 14. Landing scatters again inside the round retriggers it. If you would rather not wait, the bonus buy costs 100x your stake, though it is switched off at UK-licensed casinos where feature purchases are banned.
The number worth double-checking is the RTP. Pragmatic ships Fruit Party in three configurations: 96.47%, 95.48% and 94.45%, and the operator chooses which one it deploys. You will often see the top figure rounded to 96.5% in listings, but the two lower versions are real and they are not labelled anywhere on the lobby thumbnail. Open the information panel from inside the game before your first spin. Two percentage points is more than any bonus offer will ever give back to you.
