About Star Guardians
Star Guardians arrived in October 2021 and Evoplay presents it as the biggest-budget game in its history. The studio did not treat it as one more slot: the title is described as a hybrid between a casino game and a third-person shooter, with manual control over the character's movement and fire. Evoplay publishes an RTP of 96% and a maximum win of 377,175 EUR.
There is no reel grid and there are no paylines. The screen shows randomly generated rooms populated by mutant insects called Tritons. The player eliminates those creatures to convert kills into wins, and works towards the objective the story sets out: facing the Triton Queen.
Three heroes are playable and each is defined by a booster. Butcher fights with a multi-barrel machine gun and a rocket launcher; while his booster is active, every win is doubled. Skyler uses grenades and a sniper rifle; her booster opens valuable chests without needing a key. Kelliot channels kinetic energy as a weapon; his booster guarantees that the full haul is collected. Evoplay lets you switch hero mid-game, which turns that pick into a running decision rather than a setting chosen once at the start.
Chests form the second layer of the game. Scattered through the rooms, they hold wins, amplifiers and keys among other things; the amplifiers trigger the selected hero's own ability for a limited time. Skyler's booster then makes sense: it sidesteps the key requirement the other two heroes have to satisfy first.
The boss fight triggers at random during play. It runs in two stages: the player first holds off waves of larvae from a fixed cannon, then faces the three-headed Queen with the rocket ammunition banked during that phase. Wins attached to the sequence run from 50 up to 5,000 times the stake, which makes it the heart of the game's potential. During the bonus, eliminated Tritons drop either ammunition or money.
The stake range recorded on the technical sheets runs from 0.10 EUR to 75 EUR per spin. There is no bonus buy: reaching the Queen depends purely on how a game unfolds. The volatility Evoplay shows spans a range from low to high, while specialist databases file the title on the high side, which fits the way the potential concentrates on the boss sequence.
Put together, that structure shows where the game's money actually sits. Ordinary Triton kills are converted into wins as a run advances, but they are not where the ceiling lives. The chests, the amplifiers and the hero booster they switch on decide how much of a room a player converts, and the Queen fight, arriving at random and paying between 50 and 5,000 times the stake, is where the outcome of a session is settled. Picking a hero is therefore less a matter of preference than of reading what the current run is putting in front of you, which is precisely why Evoplay left the choice open mid-game.
