Esqueleto Explosivo 2 in detail
Esqueleto Explosivo 2 was released on 9 January 2020. It is a separate game from the 2015 original, and the two are confused constantly: grid structure, return rate, win ceiling and the presence of a bonus phase all differ. The setting is still the Mexican Day of the Dead, with the choir of mariachi skulls that made the series' name. The production has been rebuilt with more detail, but the audio identity survives intact: each skull keeps its own voice and the choir recomposes itself on every paid combination, exactly as it did in the first instalment.
The grid is still 5 reels and 3 rows, but Thunderkick dropped the 17 fixed lines of the original in favour of 99 ways to win. Stakes run from €0.10 to €100 a spin. The quoted RTP is 96.13% and the studio sets maximum exposure at 5,000 times the stake, a little over seven times the 700x ceiling of the first game.
The engine remains falling symbols: paid combinations disappear, new skulls drop down, and the sequence continues for as long as a win keeps forming. The Mucho Multiplier advances with each consecutive winning drop and reaches x32 in the base game, the same as the original. The novelty is elsewhere: during the free spins the ladder extends to x64, one step beyond anything the first game allowed.
The Explosivo Wilds have been reworked as well. Instead of appearing anywhere on the grid, they are now confined to reels 2, 3 and 4. They substitute for the paying symbols, destroy adjacent symbols and advance the multiplier one step, just as in the original. That positional restriction changes how sequences build, since the outer reels can no longer set off an explosion of their own.
The major structural addition is a genuine free spins phase, absent from the first instalment. Depending on how many trigger symbols land, it awards 10, 12 or 14 spins. This is where most of the game's potential is built, thanks to the multiplier extended to x64 and the possibility of picking up extra spins while the feature is running.
