BetsRank Verdict

Our read of the game, based on the data the studio publishes

A 2024 Western slot from Hacksaw that bets on the 'duel' mechanic as the heart of the experience. 5x5 grid on 50 paylines (more than Wanted Dead), very high volatility but slightly more accessible than Wanted or Le Bandit. The main bonus triggers with 3 scatters: 8 free spins with sticky wilds, and a cinematic duel appears randomly to multiply the stake. Reasonable 100x bonus buy. A good Hacksaw entry point for players who find Wanted/2 Wild 2 Die too punishing.

Strengths

+Volatility a notch below Wanted/Le Bandit (more accessible)
+Accessible 100x stake bonus buy
+50 paylines (vs 20 on the other classic Hacksaw titles)
+Unique cinematic duel animation during respins

To consider

−11,064x max win is lower than Wanted Dead (12,500x)
−Only 1 bonus mode (vs 3 on Wanted)
−Limited availability compared to Pragmatic slots
−Free spins are hard to trigger naturally

About Duel at Dawn

Released in February 2024, Duel at Dawn follows Hacksaw's Western lineage but takes a slightly more accessible approach than Wanted Dead or Le Bandit. 5x5 grid on 50 paylines (most classic Hacksaw titles run on 20), very high but not extreme volatility. The bonus triggers with 3 scatters and awards 8 free spins with sticky wilds — during which a cinematic duel mechanic can trigger randomly, adding an instant multiplier to a spin. A reasonable 100x stake bonus buy makes it an excellent entry point to discover the studio without the bankroll required for Wanted (250x) or Le Bandit (500x).

Key mechanics

▸3 scatters = 8 free spins with sticky wilds
▸Random cinematic duel during the bonus = instant multiplier
▸50 paylines (instead of the usual 20 at Hacksaw)
▸100x stake bonus buy (same RTP as the base game)
▸Restrained Western art direction, signature Hacksaw

💰 Bonus Buy: 100x stake

How does the duel mode work?▾
