BetsRank Verdict
Our read of the game, based on the data the studio publishes
Strengths
- +Wrath Reel multipliers are additive, so several reels landing together build a readable total that climbs fast at up to x300 per reel
- +Wrath and Ruin runs on three refilling lives rather than a fixed spin count, which removes the sting of a wasted final spin
- +Two genuinely different disc types: green ones add, red ones multiply, and the order in which they land changes the outcome
- +Four buy tiers spread widely from 3x to 200x, with RTP holding almost flat between 96.21% and 96.30% across them
- +A 15,000x ceiling, among the highest in the Hacksaw catalogue, backed by a hidden mode that makes it credible
To consider
- −Roughly 25% hit frequency: three spins in four return nothing, and the base game cannot carry a session
- −Ares Ascends, the only mode that realistically approaches 15,000x, cannot be bought and needs five simultaneous scatters
- −Adding the multipliers mechanically caps the base game, so without a bonus the big spins stay modest
- −Carnage FeatureSpins at 60x carries the lowest RTP of the four buys, 96.21%, for an unconvincing average return
- −Databases disagree on the maximum stake, listed as EUR 50 by some and EUR 100 by others
How Army of Ares works
- ▸Wrath Reels: a Wrath scatter expands across all four positions of its reel, turning it fully wild, then reveals a multiplier from x2 to x300 applied to that reel.
- ▸Additive multipliers: when several Wrath Reels contribute to the same win their values are added rather than multiplied, and each expansion adds 0 to 5 extra wilds elsewhere on the grid.
- ▸Fear and Flame (3 scatters): ten free spins in which every wild added by a Wrath Reel carries its own multiplier, from x2 to x100.
- ▸Wrath and Ruin (4 scatters): a bonus built on three refilling lives instead of a fixed spin count, structured around the multiplier discs.
- ▸Green and red discs: green adds a value from x1 to x100 to its reel's multiplier, red multiplies that multiplier by x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10.
- ▸Battle Horses: collected above their reel throughout the bonus, they only activate once every spin is used and then reveal a multiplier of up to x50.
- ▸Ares Ascends (5 scatters): a hidden, non-purchasable mode that starts with the grid already filled with multiplier discs and a Battle Horse in place.

❓Army of Ares FAQ
What is the RTP of Army of Ares?▾
96.
26% in the reference configuration. Hacksaw Gaming also supplies operators with 94. 34%, 92. 28% and 86. 22% versions, that last tier being unusually low even for the studio. The four bonus buys sit between 96. 21% and 96. 30%. Always check the figure shown in the game's info panel at your casino before staking.
How much can you win at most?▾
15,000 times the stake, one of the highest ceilings in the Hacksaw catalogue.
In practice that figure assumes an Ares Ascends session where red discs land after a build-up of greens and the collected Battle Horses reveal high values. In the base game, adding the Wrath Reel multipliers mechanically caps what a single spin can produce.
How volatile is the game?▾
High.
Hit frequency sits around 25%, one paying spin in four, and a good share of those spins return less than the stake. A base-game spin without a Wrath Reel builds nothing: Army of Ares is played by chasing the bonus rounds, not by hoping the paylines carry you.
What do the bonus buys cost?▾
Four tiers are offered.
BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 3x the stake raises the trigger chance. Carnage FeatureSpins costs 60x. Fear and Flame is bought at 100x the stake and Wrath and Ruin at 200x the stake. The latter carries the best RTP on the menu at 96. 30%, while Carnage carries the lowest at 96. 21%.
Can you buy the Ares Ascends mode?▾
No.
Ares Ascends triggers only by landing five FS scatter symbols at the same time. It is the game's hidden mode and the only one excluded from the buy menu, which is consistent: it starts with the grid already filled with multiplier discs and a Battle Horse in place, and it is the only round that truly approaches 15,000x.
What is the difference between green and red discs?▾
A green disc reveals a value from x1 to x100 that is added to the multiplier of the reel it landed on.
A red disc reveals x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10 and multiplies the multiplier already accumulated there. The landing order is therefore decisive: a red disc arriving after several greens is worth far more than the same symbol at the very start of the round.
What grid and how many lines?▾
Five reels, four rows and fourteen fixed paylines, formed left to right from three matching symbols.
The line count cannot be adjusted; only the total stake is configurable, as on every Hacksaw Gaming release.
