Sweet Alchemy

Sweet Alchemy (April 2017) is one of Play'n GO's earliest cluster-pays slots. Released the same year as Reactoonz, it laid the groundwork for a series later expanded by Sweet Alchemy 2 (2020) and Sweet Alchemy 100 (2024). The theme: three witches (Cherry, Berry, Apple) brewing potions against a candy/medieval-alchemy backdrop. The structure: a 5x5 grid, cluster pays — 4+ matching symbols adjacent to each other (horizontally or vertically) form a win. Winning symbols disappear and new ones drop in — cascading wins. Top-tier RTP of 96.52% (with reduced versions of 94.50%, 91.51%, 87.50%, 84.50% depending on the casino). High volatility, though reasonable compared to the more modern sequels. Stakes from 0.10€ to 100€. The Sugar Rush Metre drives the game. Every win fills the gauge. Once full, it triggers the Elixir of Power Bonus — random modifiers applied to the grid (symbol transformation, added wilds, multipliers). Continuing to fill the metre unlocks the Mix the Elixir Free Round, the game's centrepiece: a single free spin played on an expanded 9x9 grid (vs the 5x5 base) — each witch takes her turn in sequence. The Map progression is another original touch. The player travels across a map of the kingdom — each 'victory' at a stage advances to the next, unlocking narrative modifiers. A mechanic borrowed from RPGs, rare in slots of that era. Max win of 3,000x — modest next to Sweet Alchemy 100 (15,000x) or modern 25,000x+ titles, but consistent with a high-volatility 2017 slot. No Bonus Buy. Ideal for fans of old-school Play'n GO cluster pays and players who enjoy storytelling mechanics (witches plus map). For higher potential payouts: Sweet Alchemy 100.
