That 2% house edge holds across every mode, but the shape of the risk changes completely depending on which of the four difficulty settings you pick, and that is the part most guides skip. Easy runs 24 steps with a 1-in-25 (4%) chance of failing each one and tops out around 24.5x. Medium shortens the road to 22 steps at a 3-in-25 (12%) risk per step, for a ceiling near 2,254x. Hard is 20 steps at 5-in-25 (20%), reaching roughly 52,067x. Hardcore compresses everything into 15 steps with a far steeper failure rate and a theoretical ceiling of about 3,203,385x — a number you will realistically never see, but which explains why the multiplier climbs so violently on that setting.
What makes the game unusually honest is that those odds are printed inside it. Before you commit a single step you can read the exact loss probability per step, the number of steps to the golden egg at the end of the road, and the multiplier attached to every position along the way.
