Cygnus 2 launched on August 2, 2022, and it's ELK Studios' signature "astronomy meets Egypt" slot. An observatory set against a space backdrop, hieroglyphs, constellations — and the star mechanic: a non-resetting multiplier during Free Spins.
TL;DR
- ELK Studios slot, August 2022, a sequel to Cygnus (2020). Format 6x4 extending to 6x8.
- 4,096 ways extending to 262,144. RTP 94%, medium-high volatility (8/10), MAX 50,000x, a very reassuring 23.6% hit rate.
- Avalanche cascading + grid expansion (+4 rows max) + 2x/3x/5x/10x multiplier symbols + a non-resetting multiplier during Free Spins.
- 5-tier X-iter (Bonus Hunt 2x / Multiplier 10x / Multiplier Wilds 25x / Bonus 100x / Super Bonus 500x).
Why Cygnus 2 matters
It's the only ELK slot with a complete 5-tier X-iter (versus 2-3 tiers on other titles). And it's one of the rare slots on the market with a non-resetting multiplier during Free Spins — a mechanic it shares with hits like Pragmatic's Sweet Bonanza and Sugar Rush.
| Aspect | Cygnus (2020) | Cygnus 2 (2022) |
|---|---|---|
| Format | 6x4 | 6x4 extending to 6x8 |
| Max ways | 4,096 | 262,144 |
| Multipliers | Basic | 2x/3x/5x/10x on reels |
| Free Spins | Standard | Non-resetting multiplier |
| Bonus buy | Limited | Full 5-tier X-iter |
Non-resetting multiplier — the signature mechanic
During Free Spins, every multiplier symbol that lands adds to the session's global multiplier:
| Spin | Multiplier shown | Cumulative global multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | x2 | x2 |
| 2 | (nothing) | x2 (persists) |
| 3 | x5 | x7 |
| 4 | x3 | x10 |
| 5 | x10 | x20 |
This global multiplier does not reset between bonus spins — it accumulates across the entire round. On a long session, the potential becomes exponential, similar to Sweet Bonanza or Sugar Rush but with a faster progression.
23.6% hit frequency — ELK's record holder
Cygnus 2 posts the highest hit frequency in ELK's portfolio: 23.6%. For comparison:
| ELK slot | Hit frequency |
|---|---|
| Sam on the Beach | 23% |
| Cygnus 2 | 23.6% 🏆 |
| Wild Toro 2 | 22.1% |
| Nitropolis 3 | 19.2% |
| Nitropolis 4 | 19.5% |
The result: more comfortable sessions — more regular wins even without triggering the Free Spins.
Avalanche cascading + gravity effects
Base game mechanic:
- Symbols fall from the top with a pronounced gravity effect
- Winning combinations explode
- Cascades continue as long as there are hits
- Grid expansion of +1 row per winning cascade (max +4)
- 262,144 ways on the fully extended 6x8 grid
Technically, this is close to Sweet Bonanza or Reactoonz — cascading combined with progressive grid expansion.
Free Spins trigger — leftmost bonus symbols
A unique mechanic: bonus symbols land randomly on the grid but slide left with every cascade. When 3 bonus symbols reach the leftmost position simultaneously, Free Spins trigger.
It's a slow-build system — it often takes several cascades to trigger. The consequence: Free Spins that are rarer but more memorable.
